Summery Artist: CBJudith

East Coaster Judith of CBJudith allows the ocean to inspire her work. Check out her interview below, and don't forget to visit her shop!

Tell us a little bit about you, your shop and how you got started:
As per my Etsy bio, I have degrees in education and graphic design. The graphic design led to my working with photography and art on the computer. I began my jewelry making with Photoshop and glass tiles, I couldn't stop. Etsy is providing an outlet for my ideas.

My Etsy shop was opened in Nov 2010, as an answer to a driving force to create. I absolutely love crafts and art of many different media. I have worked with ceramics, painting, sewing, and have spent much of my life in these endeavors. Heaven help me, because I have chosen to put in with a vast "ocean" of crafters making jewelry! I like to believe that each of us has an artistic sense which makes our own wares unique.

How does the ocean/beach inspire you?
I have always loved anything to do with ocean lore and lure!
The products given up by nature, are always inimitable and perfect in form, color and shape. Capturing it in any art form is a difficult but luring quest for me.

What is your favorite beach destination? Why?My favorite beach destination is Duck, North Carolina. I love the peaceful beauty of the beaches, the lovely homes to rent on the beach, the feeling of exhilaration and well being after a day spent
on the ocean's playground. Shopping for "ocean inspired" art and jewelry afterwards.

*Judith's shop features free shipping to US and Canada. In addition to this, for all those interested in her products via this blog, use coupon code: CBJ10BG for a 10% discount on any purchase from Judith's shop!

Exhibition- Calder's Portraits: A New Language

Anyone in the DC area knows how lucky we are to have free entry into the Smithsonian museums. I plan to take advantage of this by checking out the Calder exhibit at the Portrait Gallery.
